Affordable Rice Sale Set for NIA Offices in Bicol Region

Bicol: The National Irrigation Administration in Bicol (NIA-5) announced that 3,800 bags of affordable rice will be available for sale in its offices within the Bicol region on Thursday. Priced at just PHP29 per kilogram or PHP290 per 10-kilogram bag, this initiative aims to provide affordable rice to the local population.

According to Philippines News Agency, NIA-Bicol spokesperson Ma. Cleofe Baraero highlighted that the rice will be sold across nine locations in different provinces as part of a collaboration with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) to conclude Nutrition Month activities. The sales locations include the NIA regional office in Naga City and Irrigation Management Offices in Sta. Lucia, Magarao, Handong, Libmanan, Del Carmen, San Jose, Sta. Elena (all in Camarines Sur), Daet (Camarines Norte), Buhatan (Sorsogon City), the Catanduanes Satellite Office in Virac, and Ligao City in Albay province.

Baraero emphasized that purchases will be limited to 10 kilograms per person to ensure broader access to the affordable, newly harvested rice. Additionally, the Department of Agriculture will set up a booth at the regional office to sell other affordable agricultural products, offering the public an opportunity to purchase fresh, locally produced goods.

Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own eco bags, wear comfortable clothing, maintain order, and adhere to the rules established by the organizers to facilitate a smooth buying experience.
