Manila: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has placed all its area centers and airport operations on heightened alert as Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong approaches the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario has instructed airport managers, especially those in regions likely to experience the storm's impact, to initiate emergency preparedness and response plans.

According to Philippines News Agency, the directive follows the country's ongoing recovery efforts from Typhoon Tino, which resulted in hundreds of fatalities and thousands of displacements across the Visayas and Mindanao regions. CAAP is actively coordinating with airlines, local government units, and disaster response teams to ensure prompt action in the event of flight diversions or airport disruptions.

Travelers are advised to stay informed about flight advisories and to arrive early at airports, as weather disturbances may lead to unexpected schedule changes. In response to the approaching storm, Cebu Pacific has canceled its Bicol flights 5J321 and 5J322, offering affected passengers the option to rebook or refund their tickets without incurring additional fees.
