Manila: Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin Jr. has resigned as a member of the Commission on Appointments (CA). In a statement posted on his social media Thursday, Garbin expressed his intention to assume a more independent role in Congress.
According to Philippines News Agency, Garbin emphasized that his decision was driven by personal conviction and a commitment to public service, rather than any disagreement or political discord. He stated that public service should be about responsibility, accountability, and honest engagement in nation-building, asserting that these values remain integral to his work.
Garbin clarified that he has not engaged in any wrongdoing and remains guided by the trust placed in him by his constituents. He reaffirmed his support for the programs and initiatives of the House leadership and the Majority that benefit the Filipino people. Garbin pledged to continue his service with humility, openness to dialogue, and a commitment to unity in Congress when necessary for the nation's interests.
In addition, the party-list has announced plans to distribute Christmas food packs to 2,000 differently-abled individuals in Legazpi City. Garbin mentioned the desire to reach out to marginalized sectors during the holiday season, highlighting the importance of supporting the youth and differently-abled persons with gifts and food packs this Christmas.
