Albay Electric Cooperative Works to Restore Power After Storm Opong

Albay: The Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco) is actively engaged in efforts to restore power supply in various towns and cities across the province that were impacted by Severe Tropical Storm Opong, also known internationally as Bualoi, on Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Anj Galero, Aleco's public information officer, stated in a phone interview that restoration activities are underway in Bacacay, Daraga, Camalig, Pio Duran, Ligao City, and several barangays in Guinobatan and Jovellar. "Our linemen are working diligently to ensure that power is restored as soon as possible. We hope to restore power in some areas today or by early tomorrow," Galero said.

Galero explained that the primary cause of the power outages is the strong winds brought by the storm. She emphasized that all personnel are on the ground conducting damage assessments and performing necessary maintenance tasks around the clock to restore power to the affected communities. These tasks include clearing debris, metering, and reconnection.

She also urged the public to avoid touching or stepping over hanging power lines, as this could lead to accidents or fatalities. Residents encountering issues are advised to report them to the local hotline numbers: 0908-6773-393 (Smart) or 0995-0731-045 (Globe).
