Albay: The provincial government of Albay has lifted the temporary ban on the entry of live avian species, poultry products, and pigeon racing activities from Camarines Sur. The lifting of the ban takes effect immediately, marking a significant development for local poultry businesses and enthusiasts.
According to Philippines News Agency, the decision was made following a memorandum from the Department of Agriculture (DA) declaring Camarines Sur as an Avian Influenza (AI)-free province. This declaration prompted Albay Governor Noel Rosal to issue Executive Order No. 32, which repealed the previous Executive Order No. 27 implemented by former Governor Glenda Ong-Bongao on May 1, 2025.
The new executive order mandates that all provincial departments, agencies, and offices cease enforcement or implementation of Executive Order No. 27, series of 2025. Furthermore, it instructs these bodies to take necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition in accordance with the new order.
The provincial government of Albay had initially imposed the ban on poultry products from Camarines Sur after the Department of Agriculture confirmed the first case of highly pathogenic Avian influenza (HPAI) Type A subtype H5N9 in Camaligan, Camarines Sur, on April 30, 2025.
