Manila: The province of Albay is set to receive PHP608 million from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF). Albay Governor Noel Rosal, who recently attended a meeting at Malaca±ang in Manila alongside other local chief executives with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, expressed gratitude to President Marcos for his dedication to bolstering local government units (LGUs) programs and projects.
According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Rosal conveyed his amazement with the President's initiative, stating that he wished it had been implemented sooner to expedite project execution. He emphasized that this financial support marks just the beginning, with plans to have all municipalities and cities in Albay benefit from the fund.
The President's vision, as shared by Rosal following discussions with Recto, involves directing projects towards LGUs, with a particular focus on the construction and repair of school buildings. Rosal reassured his fellow Albayanos that this development is a significant step forward for the province.
For the 2026 LGSF allocation, Albay's provincial government will receive PHP274 million for Financial Assistance to Local Government Units, earmarked for rice and other projects, as per the list provided by Rosal. Eligible projects include the construction and improvement of roads, hospitals, health stations, water systems, renewable energy facilities for buildings, solar street lights, multi-purpose halls, and sports facilities.
The municipalities of Bacacay, Camalig, Daraga, Libon, Malilipot, Malinao, Manito, Oas, Pio Duran, Polangui, Rapu-Rapu, Sto. Domingo, and Tiwi are each set to receive PHP10 million. Meanwhile, Guinobatan will be allocated PHP30 million under the Support to Barangay Development Program, and Jovellar will receive PHP30 million through the Growth Equity Fund. Legazpi City has been designated PHP64 million, Ligao City PHP36 million, and Tabaco City PHP44 million.
In addition, the 'Bigay Bigas sa Masa' program will ensure that each eligible indigent family receives 10 kilograms of rice per month, amounting to a total of 60 kilos per year.
