Manila: The Philippine Navy (PN) has expressed its openness to offers from allies aimed at enhancing its warfighting capabilities. This statement was made by PN spokesperson Capt. John Percie Alcos in the context of the Royal Canadian Navy's (RCN) proposal to provide submarine training to Filipino crew members. This offer followed a visit by an RCN contingent to the Navy headquarters at Roxas Boulevard, Manila, on February 7.

According to Philippines News Agency, Capt. Alcos emphasized the PN's willingness to accept assistance from allied navies in developing capabilities across the four dimensions of warfare: sea, air, land, and electronic. Furthermore, he highlighted the Navy's interest in enhancing its expertise in intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance. This initiative aligns with the PN's ongoing efforts to evolve into a modern force capable of securing the state and contributing to regional peace.

In related developments, the Philippine Marine Corps' 3rd Marine Brigade, in collaboration with Naval Forces West (NFW), conducted an amphibious landing exercise at Long Beach, Barangay New Agutaya in San Vicente, Palawan. This exercise, held on Monday, aimed to improve interoperability and maintain the operational readiness of the participating units.

The exercise involved the use of boats from the Combat Support Brigade for amphibious landings, supported by joint forces from the Naval Special Operations Unit (NAVSOU), Joint Special Operations Unit 1, and the Naval Combat Engineering Brigade (NCEB). These units performed beach clearing and breaching operations, with the 61st Force Recon Company acting as the assaulting force. Following a successful landing, the force adeptly maneuvered towards their designated objectives, overcoming obstacles and engaging in target suppression through close-quarter battle operations.
