Almost 40K dogs get free anti-rabies shots in Davao CVO

DAVAO CITY: At least 39,834 dogs have been given free anti-rabies vaccine during the first quarter here, the City Veterinarian's Office (CVO) said Monday. Dr. Ma. Corazon Sepulveda, CVO head, said they also managed to serve 19,897 clients across the city during the period. 'Vaccination is still one of the best ways to prevent the spread of rabies in dogs, in our pets, and even in humans since dogs are the source of rabies in the Philippines through infected bites,' Sepulveda said in a statement Monday. CVO's free vaccination and castration programs are part of the campaign to eradicate rabies, she said, adding that they also hold pet registration and educational forums on responsible pet ownership. 'The CVO offers free anti-rabies vaccination at its 11 district offices from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office also schedules free castration activities every month in different barangays,' Sepulveda said. She urged the Dabawenyo pet owners to visit their office at the city hall annex to avai l of their free services. Source: Philippines News Agency
