Manila: The northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan," is set to bring rains to Northern Luzon on Friday, as reported by the weather bureau. According to Philippines News Agency, light rains are anticipated in Batanes and Babuyan Islands, while areas including Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Mainland Cagayan may experience isolated light rains. In contrast, PAGASA forecaster Veronica Torres noted that the prevailing easterlies are contributing to fair weather conditions in Metro Manila and other parts of the country. However, she cautioned that thunderstorms are likely and severe occurrences may lead to flash floods or landslides. The weather forecast highlights a temperature peak of 33 °C in Zamboanga, with Metro Manila, Legazpi, Laoag, Kalayaan Islands, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Tacloban, and Davao potentially reaching up to 32 °C. The highest heat index is expected to soar to 42°C in Coron, Palawan. Northern Luzon will experience moderate winds and seas, whereas other regions will have light to moderate wind s with slight to moderate coastal conditions. PAGASA confirmed that no low-pressure areas are currently being monitored for potential tropical cyclone development.
