Antique’s provincial government will mobilize its Provincial Youth Development Office’s "PYDO on Wheels" to accept applications from qualified college and graduate school students for the soon-to-be-released PHP60 million educational assistance.

PYDO head Irish Manlapaz, in an interview on Tuesday, said the assistance would be for the first semester of School Year 2022-2023.

The "PYDO on Wheels" is a bus with about 10 to 12 staff members who will start accepting applications in the island municipality of Caluya on September 2 and in the northernmost town of Libertad on September 5.

“The 'PYDO on Wheels' will start in the northern towns of Antique going south,” she said.

The bus will visit the province’s 18 municipalities and will stay in the municipal gym or other venues identified by the local government units.

Manlapaz said they expect to cover all the 18 municipalities by the second week of October to be able to process and release their cash assistance after a month or two.

Qualified college students will receive PHP5,000 and graduate school students, PHP6,000 to cover their school needs, such as books, and rent for those staying in boarding houses, among others.

Students with scholarships from government or private institutions are no longer qualified to accept educational assistance from the provincial government, she added.

However, those who have received educational assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program are still eligible to apply.

Among the documents to be submitted are the school registration form, validated identification card, birth certificate, certificate of indigency issued by the barangay captain, and certificate not enjoying any scholarship issued by the school
