Antique: Municipal election offices in the 18 local government units in Antique will convene their respective Election Registration Board (ERB) on Aug. 26 to deliberate on the applications of those who enlisted during the Aug. 1 to 10 voter registration. All over the province, the Commission on Elections received 19,019 applications. Their names will be sent to the central office to verify if they have multiple registrations in other areas in the country, as part of the preparations.
According to Philippines News Agency, the list will be sent back to the municipal election offices in time for the ERB deliberation on whether or not to approve their applications. 'The ERB hearing is intended to determine who among the applicants qualified as registered voters and who will be disapproved,' said Antique Provincial Election Supervisor Hazel Palencia in an interview on Tuesday. The ERB is composed of the Municipal Election Office as chair, with the Municipal Civil Registrar and the Department of Education as members.
Meanwhile, Palencia said that many applicants came to beat the last day of registration on Aug. 10. 'There were still numerous individuals who came to apply on Aug. 10, especially for the SK election, so we assisted them,' she said. Other municipal election offices had allotted a day to cater to vulnerable sectors or were given priority during the 10 days to make sure that they could participate in the 2025 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls. 'We ensured that the vulnerable sector, pregnant, senior citizens and persons with disability could participate in this coming BSKE 2025,' Palencia said.
