Antique: The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is reminding the public to observe road safety to avoid any untoward accident. Antique PDRRMO Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer III Michael Tolentino announced that their operation center has been placed on a Blue Alert status for the holiday season, extending until the New Year. This alert level indicates that personnel are on standby, monitoring the situation across the province around the clock for any emergency response.
According to Philippines News Agency, Tolentino advised commuters, particularly those traveling from Iloilo to Antique, to exercise caution due to ongoing road repairs in the mountainous region of Hamtic. The Department of Public Works and Highways, Antique Engineering District, is conducting road repairs and widening projects in this area, located at the boundary between Iloilo and Antique. In addition, road construction is underway from San Jose de Buenavista to Sibalom and other parts of the province.
The PDRRMO is also keeping a close watch on public utility vehicle (PUV) terminals, anticipating an influx of passengers starting Tuesday. Furthermore, the office is activating its Beach Watch initiative to monitor beaches where an increase in tourists and vacationers is expected during the holiday season. Tolentino advised beachgoers to adhere to safety measures to prevent drowning incidents and strongly discouraged swimming under the influence of alcohol.
