Antique: Police personnel in Antique will have regular exercise starting this month and a quarterly physical fitness test. Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) Information Officer Lt. Col. Willy Diel said in an interview Wednesday that their Provincial Director, Col. Lea Rose Pe±a, has instructed the conduct of Zumba dance exercise and other sports activities twice a week and a physical fitness test every quarter.
According to Philippines News Agency, the lady police personnel will be holding Zumba dance exercises every Tuesday and Thursday. Diel mentioned that the male officers will engage in basketball or other sports activities to maintain their fitness levels. The quarterly physical fitness test aims to identify those who are overweight and obese, prompting them to adopt dietary measures or other solutions to reach their ideal weight.
Diel noted that the regular exercise and physical fitness test adhere to the order of Philippine National Police Chief Nicolas Torre III for the police to stay fit. The personnel will be grouped according to their birth month for the physical fitness test, with those born between June and August scheduled for testing on June 20.
In addition to the fitness initiatives, the police department is conducting an inventory of needed equipment, such as communication tools and body-worn cameras, to comply with the five-minute response policy. Diel acknowledged that limited equipment currently hinders their immediate response capabilities.
