Antique Provincial Board Advocates for Increased Incentive for Child Development Workers

Antique: The provincial board has officially passed a resolution urging Governor Paolo Everardo Javier to enhance the incentive for 668 child development workers (CDWs) in the province to PHP12,000 from the existing PHP10,000.

According to Philippines News Agency, the resolution, authored by Board Member Karmila Rose Dimamay, emphasizes the significant contribution of CDWs in shaping young Antique±os by offering early childhood care, education, and guidance. Dimamay highlighted that aligning CDWs' incentives with those of other volunteer workers, such as Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Service Point Officers, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars, who currently receive PHP12,000 annually, is essential.

Dimamay further mentioned in a follow-up interview that the proposed increment will be included in the upcoming Supplemental Annual Investment Program of the Province of Antique. This adjustment aims to acknowledge and equate the efforts of CDWs with other volunteer workers in the region.

Currently, Provincial Ordinance Number 2021-296 stipulates a PHP10,000 incentive for CDWs, which the board seeks to revise to enhance support for these workers.
