Antique: The Antique provincial library has taken a significant step in promoting literacy and community engagement through its monthly outreach program, which features storytelling sessions and a feeding initiative for children across the province.

According to Philippines News Agency, the program, which was originally launched in 2023 by retired librarian Grace Magullado, is being continued under the leadership of newly appointed Provincial Librarian Emmylou Cruzat. Cruzat emphasized that the outreach program aims to instill a love for reading among children by engaging them in storytelling sessions conducted by the library's two librarians. Additionally, mothers are encouraged to participate in storytelling, fostering a culture of reading at home.

The outreach initiative also includes a feeding program, which complements the educational activities. On May 12, a successful event was held in Barangay Maybato Sur, San Jose de Buenavista, where storytelling sessions were conducted for children in the coastal barangay. This location holds significance as it was the launch site of the first outreach program under Magullado. The recent event saw participation from 83 children and 50 parents, who received storybooks, school supplies, and food.

Looking ahead, Cruzat announced plans for another outreach activity targeting children of Indigenous Peoples (IP) in Tobias Fornier town. This upcoming event, organized in coordination with the Department of Education librarian, will also distribute essential school supplies. Cruzat expressed openness to donations for IP children, emphasizing the library's commitment to supporting education in diverse communities.
