Antique Schools Selected for Enhanced Senior High School Curriculum Pilot

Antique: Nine schools in the province of Antique have been selected as pilot institutions for the Department of Education's (DepEd) strengthened senior high school curriculum for Grade 11 this academic year.

According to Philippines News Agency, the initiative aims to streamline the curriculum by merging specific tracks and core subjects, enabling students to concentrate more effectively on their studies. DepEd Chief Education Supervisor Dr. Edward Ba±a explained that the revised curriculum will now feature two primary tracks: academic and technical-professional. This is a shift from the previous system, which included four tracks-academics, technical-vocational, arts and design, and sports.

The schools chosen for this pilot program are Antique National School, Barbaza National High School, Diclum National High School, Gamad-Sto. Tomas National High School, Mag-aba National High School, Pangpang National High School, Northern Antique Vocational School, Sebaste High School, and Wright Technological College of Antique, Inc. These institutions will implement the new curriculum structure, which reduces the core subjects from 15 to five, focusing on foundational competencies to alleviate congestion in students' learning.

Dr. Ba±a emphasized that the previous system offered learners a broad array of subjects and tracks, which often diluted their educational focus. The new approach is expected to provide a more concentrated learning experience, ensuring that students gain in-depth knowledge in their chosen fields.
