Eighteen major stores in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Antique province are providing discounts to their consumers through the “In-Store Diskwento” as part of the Consumer Welfare Month celebration this October.

Trade and industry development specialist Glen Fernando, during a press conference on Thursday, said the local stores are providing as much as 10 percent discount while others have promotional offers from Oct. 19 to 23.

“There are also stores that are providing buy one, take one offer,” he said.

Fernando said before the start of the In-Store Diskwento, the DTI had mobile announcements in the province to make their consumers aware of the promo.

“There are basic and prime commodities, home appliances, construction and electrical supplies that had been discounted,” Fernando said.

Participating stores are Bagwis Awardees and are selling products with the Philippine Standard (PS) Mark or the Import Commodity Certificate (ICC) as proof that goods are of high quality and safe.

Bagwis Awardees are stores that have been validated to be observing the Fair Trade Laws, customer relations service, and with efficient store management operations.

“Based on the initial feedbacks we received, there were numerous consumers who had taken advantage of the privilege for them to buy discounted items offered for only five days,” he said.

For easy identification, consumers may look for stores with tarpaulins bearing the In-Store Diskwento
