APCW: 40 MEDIA PRACTITIONERS PARTICIPATE IN “EXPLORASI JB LESTARI” PROGRAMME

JOHOR BAHRU, Forty media practitioners from various agencies participated in the "Eksplorasi JB Lestari" programme today in conjunction with the Asia Pacific Climate Week (APCW) which will take place from Nov 13 to 17.

Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) Mayor, Datuk Mohd Noorazam Datuk Osman said the event was the curtain raiser for APCW and involved media practitioners from the Johor Media Club who were chosen as the pioneer group for the first edition of the programme this year.

"Johor Bahru has been chosen as the host for APCW and is set to welcome more than 2,000 local and foreign participants from Nov 13 to 17.

"So we will be carrying out numerous low carbon and sustainability initiatives around the city for the APCW participants," he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, SWM Environment Corporate General Manager Norlisam Mohd Nordin said the programme is a platform for the company to highlight its communication, education and public awareness initiatives through the Sustainable Waste Zone at the Sultan Ismail Library in Johor Bahru.

"Eksplorasi JB Lestari" involved 10 groups who explored five checkpoints, including the Sustainability Corner and Sustainable Waste Zone at the Sultan Ismail Library, ERT Azizah Vocational College, MBJB Nursery SITE, MBJB Forest City and the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre.

There was a total prize money of RM5,000 and it was in collaboration with the Iskandar Regional Development Authority, ERT Azizah Vocational College, Life Line Clothing Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
