ISTANBUL: Apple announced on Thursday more app changes for users in Europe amid the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA) regulations. Users in the EU will be able to make changes in their browser choice screen, default apps, and app deletion for iOS and iPad OS by the end of this year, it said in a statement. "Developers of browsers offered in the browser choice screen in the EU will have additional information about their browser shown to users who view the choice screen and will get access to more data about the performance of the choice screen," it added. For users in the EU, iOS 18 and iPad OS 18 will also include a new Default Apps section in Settings that lists defaults available to each user, said the US-based tech firm. "In future software updates, users will get new default settings for dialing phone numbers, sending messages, translating text, navigation, managing passwords, keyboards and call spam filters," said the statement. The DMA, which took effect in November 2022 to ensure higher and fairer competition in Europe, aims to prevent large firms from abusing market power and allowing new companies to enter the digital industry.
