MANILA Undocumented entry to Taiwan resulted in the arrest of drug kingpin Ricardo Ardot Parojinog by authorities there, Philippine police officials said Thursday.
Ardot Parojinog was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) by the Taiwan government for illegal entry, Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson Chief Supt. John Bulalacao said in a press conference.
Bulalacao said the PNP has yet to receive official communication from Taiwanese authorities on the matter.
He, however, confirmed that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has been coordinating with the Taiwanese government regarding the arrest of the Ozamiz City councilor and the younger sibling of the late Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Along Parojinog who was killed along with 11 others in a drug raid in July last year.
Aside from drug charges, Parojinog also faces charges of illegal possession of firearms and theft of electricity.
Yun ang mga kasong haharapin ni Ardot (Those are the charges Ardot will face) when he comes home from Taiwan, Bulalacao said.
Although (there is) no date yet, the PNP is always ready to go to Taiwan para sunduin itong si (to fetch) Ardot Parojinog. We will file for the process for deportation, at dahil may mga (and because there are) violations na na-commit sa (that were committed in) Taiwan (which was) the reason for his arrest, it will take some time before he will be deported, he added.
The PNP official said there had been a red flag with the Interpol since Ardot was undocumented when he went to Taiwan and said they are unsure when Parojinog could be sent back to the country.
It is not yet definite, because the process might take long depending on how fast the Taiwan government could process the deportation of Parojinog, he explained. (PNA)
