Asia Pacific Postal Experts Train 130 PHLPost Staff to Boost Efficiency

Manila: A total of 130 postmasters from the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) have received specialized training from the Indian government, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and leadership skills within the organization.

According to Philippines News Agency, the three-day External Capacity Building Program Training Seminar took place in late April and was facilitated by India's Department of Posts in collaboration with the Asian-Pacific Postal Union (APPU). The APPU provides development assistance to member countries through its foreign aid program, which includes funding for training programs, infrastructure development, and other initiatives aimed at improving postal services.

PHLPost Postmaster General Luis Carlos emphasized that conducting training within the Philippines is often more cost-effective than sending staff abroad, saving on travel and accommodation expenses. By collaborating with international partners and bringing foreign lecturers to the country, valuable knowledge and expertise can be shared and transferred to local participants through workshops and training sessions.

The seminar featured lectures by Asian-Pacific Postal College (APPC) educators Anucha Soonglertsongpha and Sandeep Kunnathodi Puthanveedu, focusing on "Best Practices in Managing Post Office." APPU Secretary General Vinaya Prakash Singh also highlighted the regional importance of postal modernization and workforce development during the event.

Carlos noted that the discussions covered important topics for PHLPost, such as customer relationship management, digital transformation of postal operations, and achieving operational excellence. He expressed confidence that these insights would help enhance practices across post offices nationwide, thereby improving the skills and knowledge of postal operations and marketing.
