Hundreds of residents in this capital town of Aurora province availed of various government services during the conduct of the Duterte Legacy: Barangayanihan Caravan Towards National Recovery here on Wednesday.

In an interview, Lt. Col. Julito B. Recto Jr., acting commander of the 91st Infantry Battalion (91IB), said the Philippine Army was among those agencies committed to informing the public about the administration’s accomplishments and efforts to bring about real change in the lives of the Filipinos.

Recto said the Army troopers provided free haircuts to some 20 individuals and conducted a lecture on the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) to some 50 individuals.

The E-CLIP provides financial assistance to former rebels who have abandoned the armed struggle and rejoined the government.

Recto said the Philippine National Police also conducted an information drive on the Barangayanihan Caravan aside from distributing food packs, together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and barangay officials.

He said the conduct of a series of Duterte Legacy caravan activities is part of the overall efforts of the provincial and municipal task forces to end local communist armed conflict in the Army’s area of operations in this province.

“Rest assured that your Philippine Army is always ready to assist and to help in any activities of the government. This is one way of expressing our support to our local and national government agencies in the delivery of basic services. We are partners for lasting peace and development of the country,” the Army official said.
