Australia Eyes Investment Opportunities in Davao City

Davao City: An official from the Australian Embassy in the Philippines has expressed interest in increasing investments in Southeast Asia, including Davao City, citing its security, stability, and dynamic business environment.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC) announced that Luke Villiers, a counselor from the Australian Embassy, highlighted Davao City's potential as a key investment destination during a recent visit. Villiers noted the city's dynamic and resilient business environment and expressed a desire to learn more about its economic drivers and preferred investment areas.

Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain Jr. informed the Australian delegation that Davao City has become more accessible and progressive due to ongoing economic and infrastructure developments. He expressed optimism in surpassing last year's revenue collections as more businesses, including those from Manila and abroad, establish operations in the city. Quitain also noted the influx of foreign investments and the city's efforts to enhance accommodations to host large-scale meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE), as part of a strategy to boost the business industry.

Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, chairperson of the Committee on International Relations, emphasized that Davao City offers incentives and services to attract both local and foreign investors, including Australians. He extended an invitation to the Australian delegation to participate in the Kadayawan Festival in August.
