Agusan del sur: Operatives from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga), alongside the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine Army, successfully uprooted 23,431 fully grown marijuana plants in the remote Barangay Kasapa 1, Loreto, Agusan del Sur.
According to Philippines News Agency, the operation took place on Saturday, with PRO-13 reporting on Monday that the marijuana plants have an estimated street value of PHP6 million. The plants were discovered in a 16,000 square-meter plantation located approximately 207 kilometers from the municipal police station of Loreto, a geographically isolated area.
PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV stated in the report that although no arrests were made during the operation, authorities have identified the individual responsible for the cultivation of the marijuana plants. Samples of the marijuana were collected for laboratory examination, while the remaining plants were destroyed on-site through burning, a process observed by a barangay official from Kasapa 1.
Magistrado also urged the public to stay vigilant and support law enforcement by reporting any suspicious drug-related activities, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in combating illegal drug operations.
