Bacolod City Eyes Repeat as PH’s Most Business-Friendly City

Bacolod city: This city, the 2024 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) among the provincial highly urbanized cities, is eyeing recognition after making it to the competition's shortlist again this year.

According to Philippines News Agency, on Thursday, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) announced that Bacolod, together with Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan, and Iloilo, is included in the Top 5 LGUs under the City Level 1B for the 2025 Most Business-Friendly LGU Awards. The PCCI highlighted that these cities have demonstrated leadership in advancing local economic development, promoting competitiveness, and creating a business-friendly environment that benefits communities and enterprises.

Frances Mae Llamas, head of the Bacolod City Department of Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions, emphasized that the recognition is a testament to the city's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and investors. She expressed satisfaction with Bacolod's inclusion among the finalists and attributed the achievement to the local government's efforts in streamlining processes, championing good governance, and promoting digital transformation.

Llamas also mentioned that the city government has worked closely with the business community to institutionalize initiatives that facilitate business growth in Bacolod. Last year, Bacolod outperformed other finalists such as Iloilo, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, and Mandaue to earn the recognition.

In addition to the 2024 accolade, Bacolod previously received the Most Business-Friendly LGU Award in 2021 and 2007.
