Bacolod City:Bacolod City has initiated efforts to advance sustainable transportation with the launch of its first Electric Vehicle (EV) Summit, which opened on Monday afternoon.

In a video message, Benitez highlighted the benefits of EVs, such as reducing petroleum dependency, improving air quality, and lowering operating and maintenance costs. He emphasized the role of transportation in connecting communities and the importance of making electric mobility accessible while keeping fares affordable through infrastructure development, financing, and public-private partnerships.

The summit is supported by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Land Transportation Office, Department of Energy, and Department of Trade and Industry's financing arm, Small Business Corporation. LTFRB Acting Chairman Greg Pua Jr. acknowledged the challenges of transitioning to EVs but noted the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing transport modernization efforts.
