Bacolod City Supports Inclusive Modalities for 4PH Program

Bacolod City: As one of the pioneering local government units involved in the Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino (4PH) program, Bacolod City is endorsing all feasible modalities advocated by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) to enhance the inclusivity and sustainability of the 4PH initiative. In a press briefing, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez expressed approval of the program's recalibration as the city proceeds with the Asenso Yuhum Residences project in Barangay Vista Alegre.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Benitez emphasized the importance of diverse housing options to cater to different markets. He mentioned that the current project in Vista Alegre is tailored for a specific demographic, but stressed the need for various modalities, such as horizontal developments and rental housing support, which are currently being explored by the DHSUD under the leadership of Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling.

The city has acquired a 17-hectare lot in Barangay Granada to facilitate horizontal housing projects alongside its existing relocation site. Mayor Benitez highlighted the substantial market interest in the Asenso Yuhum Residences, noting that many applicants view the housing units as a practical choice. He expressed optimism that with the new DHSUD Secretary, the housing program could gain momentum.

Earlier this year, the city government handed over keys to buyer-beneficiaries of the 64-unit second tower of the Asenso Yuhum Residences. The initial batch of 64 occupants received their units in the first building in January. Furthermore, 296 buyer-beneficiaries have been selected to occupy the first four towers through approval from the Home Mutual Development (Pag-IBIG) Fund. The third building comprises 80 units, while the fourth has 88, as reported by the Bacolod Housing Authority.
