Operatives of Bacolod City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit (BCPO-CDEU) seized a kilogram of shabu worth PHP6.8 million from a lone suspect during a buy-bust at his residence in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 12 on Thursday. The arrested drug personality was identified as alias 'Mar-Mar,' 24, and unemployed. A few minutes before 1 p.m., he sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP2,000 to an undercover policeman. He also yielded 12 sealed transparent plastic sachets and an unsealed plastic bag containing shabu with a total weight of about 1,000 grams with a street prevailing price of PHP6,800 per gram. In an interview, Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez Jr., chief of CDEU, said the suspect was also arrested for a similar violation in March last year when operatives seized 80 grams of shabu from his possession. 'He was released from jail a few months later in October, and a year after, he was again arrested,' he added. Benitez said the suspect, who was under surveillance for about two months, was found to have been supplying shabu to street-level peddlers in the city. The latest drug haul followed the series of major operations in the city since the 45th MassKara Festival opened last weekend. On the evening of Oct. 13 and in the morning of Oct. 14, BCPO drug enforcement teams also recovered PHP6.8 million, or PHP3.4 million each, during the buy-busts conducted in Barangay Tangub and Barangay Singcang-Airport.
