Bacolod: The city government of Bacolod has announced an increase in the monthly allowance for over 1,000 local uniformed personnel to PHP2,000, effective from January. This marks an increase from the previous amount of PHP1,500.
According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Greg Gasataya stated that this hike is part of Bacolod's commitment to support the police, fire, and jail personnel who are responsible for maintaining public safety. "For which we are deeply thankful," Gasataya remarked, emphasizing the importance of these roles in the community.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) benefits from an annual allocation of PHP20.5 million from the city for its peace and order programs. BCPO director Col. Joeresty Coronica noted that this financial assistance plays a crucial role in supporting various operations, including logistics and vehicle maintenance.
In a related development, the city provided the BCPO with two armored SWAT vehicles in October 2025. These vehicles, valued at approximately PHP6.5 million, aim to enhance the department's mobility and emergency response capabilities.
