Baguio city: The Baguio City Health Services Office has reported a continued decline in firecracker-related injuries, with only four cases recorded as of Monday. City Health Officer Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes highlighted this reduction, noting that the number of injuries had decreased from 12 cases in 2024 to eight in 2025.

According to Philippines News Agency, the four recent cases included two children injured on December 21 and two passive victims who were watching neighbors' fireworks early in the new year. Dr. Brillantes expressed optimism about the trend, stating in a media interview, "Magandang indicator ito na talagang umiiwas na sa paputok at alam na ng mga tao ang epekto ng paputok. Marami na rin ang nag-iingay lang, hindi na nagpapaputok." This translates to an indication that people are now avoiding fireworks and are aware of their effects, with many opting to make noise rather than set off fireworks.

Dr. Brillantes attributed the decrease in injuries to increased public awareness and strict enforcement of the city's firecracker ban, which includes requiring permits for pyrotechnics. Meanwhile, the Department of Health-Cordillera reported a total of 42 fireworks-related injuries across the region from December 21 to date, with the majority of cases occurring in Kalinga (17) and Apayao (10). Notably, Mountain Province has reported no injuries.
