Baguio Unveils Online Portal for Traffic Citation Payments

Manila: The local government has launched an online portal to allow vehicle owners to pay traffic citation tickets through their mobile phones or laptops. The system aims to reduce queues and streamline processes, according to the City Information Office on Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, users can visit https://bcap.baguio.gov.ph, enter the citation ticket number (found on the upper right of the ticket), and click "pay now" to view the amount due. Payments can be made via GCash by selecting bills, choosing government, and then Baguio City Traffic Violation. A reference number will be issued as proof of payment.

Tickets and payment amounts can be viewed online within 24 hours of issuance. The portal is part of the city's wider push to digitize transactions, which already includes online tax and fee payments, as well as building and work permit applications. Soon, all city government transactions will be accessible online.

From Jan. 1 to June 8, the Baguio City Police Office recorded 94,169 traffic violations, including anti-obstruction, illegal parking, and number coding offenses. Unpaid tickets are forwarded to the Department of Transportation and remain in the database until settled, potentially affecting license and vehicle registration renewals.
