Baguio: Mayor Benjamin Magalong has issued a stern warning to fuel sellers in the city, stating that they will face sanctions if they increase prices without proper authorization or engage in hoarding practices.

According to Philippines News Agency, the mayor emphasized that any fuel seller caught hoarding could face the cancellation of their business permits, effectively barring them from operating within the city. This warning comes in the wake of reports that some gas stations have raised prices despite a Department of Energy order prohibiting unscheduled price increases.

Magalong expressed support for measures taken by gas stations to limit the amount of fuel each customer can purchase. He noted that this strategy ensures fair distribution, especially given the anticipated shortage due to a lack of new fuel supplies arriving in the city. The mayor commended gas station operators for their efforts in making sure the limited fuel supply is shared among consumers.

The city government plans to meet with the local price control council and fuel retailers to discuss measures that will guarantee public safety and secure the fuel supply.
