BARMM Gas Stations Align with Market Trends

Manila: The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has confirmed that fuel stations across the region are adhering to current market trends, following a comprehensive weeklong monitoring effort.

According to Philippines News Agency, since last week, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) has been actively monitoring gas stations within the region's five provinces and one Special Geographic Area. This initiative aims to ensure that consumers receive fair treatment and are not disadvantaged by unjust pricing practices.

MENRE stated that this monitoring initiative is part of its oversight responsibilities concerning the downstream oil and gas industry in the Bangsamoro region. It is also aligned with the nationwide fuel price monitoring carried out by the Department of Energy, which seeks to promote transparency, fair competition, and consumer protection.

The Energy Management and Development Services division of MENRE, in collaboration with the Philippine National Police, has been conducting inspections and monitoring activities across all provinces and cities within BARMM. The agency emphasized that proactive monitoring is crucial to guarantee that gas station owners comply with lawful pricing and maintain fair business practices. This monitoring effort includes a comparative analysis of pump prices between BARMM and neighboring regions.

In addition to fuel prices, other government agencies within BARMM are also keeping an eye on the prices of basic goods, especially with the fasting month anticipated to conclude within the week.
