Manila: The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has announced the deployment of 48 additional frontliners at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to manage the anticipated increase in passenger numbers during the Holy Week peak season.

According to Philippines News Agency, Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that these personnel, consisting of immigration officers and acting immigration officers, have been strategically positioned at NAIA terminals to handle an expected daily traveler count of up to 50,000. "We have fielded a total of 48 immigration frontliners at NAIA alone to ensure that all immigration counters are fully manned during peak arrival and departure hours. This is part of our commitment to deliver swift and seamless service to the traveling public," Viado added.

The newly assigned immigration personnel have been drawn from various offices across Metro Manila and are tasked with supporting airport operations throughout the Holy Week period. This measure is in line with a recent directive requiring all entry-level and acting immigration officers to perform rotational duties at the airport.

"Our frontliners are under strict orders to provide efficient, courteous, and professional service at all times," Viado emphasized. He also noted that this operational enhancement aligns with the President's directive for improved government services, particularly in high-traffic areas like airports.

Viado further advised travelers to plan their airport arrival times carefully during the holiday season due to the high volume of expected passengers. "We urge the public to be at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled flight to allow ample time for immigration and security checks," he advised.
