Bicol Cops Confiscate P2.99-M Worth of Drugs, Arrest 33 in Weeklong Operations

Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) reported the confiscation of PHP2.99 million worth of illegal drugs during a series of operations conducted from June 16 to 22. PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon stated that a total of 32 anti-illegal drug operations were carried out, resulting in the arrest of 33 suspects.

According to Philippines News Agency, the seized illegal drugs included 438.1 grams of shabu and 140 grams of dried marijuana leaves. Naga City recorded the largest haul among the six provinces and one component city in the region, with an estimated value of PHP1,945,260 worth of confiscated drugs.

The apprehended individuals are now facing legal charges under Republic Act No. 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Brig. Gen. Dizon noted that these results highlight the dedication of their personnel and the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing, stressing the unit's commitment to dismantling drug networks in the region.

Dizon called on the public to support the police efforts by reporting any suspicious activities in their communities. The PRO-5 encourages vigilance and the use of established communication channels, such as E-Sumbong, to report drug-related activities and other crimes.

The unit reassures residents of Bicol that it will remain committed to upholding peace, security, and a drug-free environment throughout the region.
