Bicol police on alert for Paeng

The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) is now on alert for the possible impact of Tropical Storm (TS) Paeng.

 

PRO-5 spokesperson Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib said in a statement on Thursday 77 police personnel composed of 45 Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) members from the Regional Headquarters and 32 Quick Response Team members from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion are on alert for possible deployment.

 

“They shall be expected to conduct evacuation of residents living in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Coordination with local government units was also undertaken for the actions to be made to avoid risks and casualty,” she said.

 

She said Police provincial and city offices down to the lower units were directed to monitor the weather in their respective areas of responsibility and to create disaster response teams.

 

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over Catanduanes, the eastern portion of Albay, particularly in Rapu-Rapu, and the eastern portion of Sorsogon that includes Prieto Diaz, Gubat, Barcelona, Bulusan, Santa Magdalena, Irosin, Juban, and Casiguran towns and the City of Sorsogon, as well as Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, and Samar.

 

These areas will experience strong winds.

 

TS Paeng was last located 540 km. east of Borongan, Eastern Samar, moving west-southwestward at 10 kph
