CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan: A 44-year-old businessman was arrested after authorities found several firearms, ammunition and drugs during a search operation in his house in San Ildefonso town, this province on Tuesday.

In his report on Wednesday, Col. Relly Arnedo, director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, said the raiding team, armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 80 in Malolos City, arrested Rico Irabagon, a resident of Barangay Anyatam in the said town, who is reportedly engaged in a poultry business.

Seized from the suspect during the operation were several firearms and ammunition, a hand grenade fragmentation and one medium-sized plastic containing 12 sachets of suspected shabu.

Arnedo said Irabagon is an identified member of an emerging criminal group called “Lorenzana CG“ allegedly involved in gun-for-hire, gun-running, robbery, smuggling and illegal drug activities.

He said the operation was done in an orderly manner and in the presence of barangay officials and media representatives as witnesses.

“The Bulacan PNP’s (Philippine National Police) intensified efforts to combat lawlessness and violence, as well as its efficient intelligence response to curb the individuals or groups that instill fear and perpetrate violence within the community, have been carried out with the highest determination,” Arnedo said in a statement
