BJMP Mimaropa Celebrates 23rd Anniversary with Regional Tree Planting Initiative

Manila: The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Mimaropa marked its 23rd founding anniversary on Thursday with a region-wide simultaneous tree planting activity anchored on the theme, 'Matatag na Serbisyo, Patnubay sa Tunay na Pagbabago (Stable Service, Guidance for Real Change).'

According to Philippines News Agency, the activity was carried out across jail facilities in Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, with the participation of jail personnel, partner agencies, local government units, and civic organizations. BJMP Mimaropa Regional Information Officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo stated that the initiative symbolizes the bureau's dual mission of rehabilitation and environmental protection.

"Just as we plant trees today for a greener tomorrow, we also strive to plant the seeds of change in the lives of PDLs. This anniversary is a reminder of our duty to serve with resilience and to guide those under our care toward true reform," Anglo said.

Hundreds of fruit-bearing and indigenous tree seedlings were planted in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), local officials, and volunteers. BJMP Mimaropa emphasized that the anniversary celebration is a call for unity in sustaining programs that promote public safety, strengthen correctional services, and support nation-building.
