Manila: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reported that coin deposit machines (CoDM) have collected PHP1.082 billion worth of coins since their launch. According to Philippines News Agency, as of November 15, the CoDMs have processed over 280 million coins across more than 255,000 transactions. The initiative, started on June 20 of the previous year, allows users to deposit coins conveniently, crediting their value to GCash or Maya electronic wallet accounts, or converting them into shopping vouchers. The CoDM project aligns with the BSP's Coin Recirculation Program, aimed at reintegrating idle coins into circulation to meet the country's currency needs. Presently, the BSP has installed CoDMs in various retail locations throughout the Greater Manila Area. These locations include Robinsons and SM malls across cities such as Pasig, Quezon City, Manila, and more. Looking ahead, the BSP plans to expand this initiative by deploying 25 additional CoDMs across the nation by 2025.
