Bukidnon: Bukidnon's provincial government on Thursday handed over the last batch of the PHP16 million worth of handheld two-way communication radios, completing its distribution to the remaining 127 of 474 barangays. During a ceremony, Governor Rogelio Neil Roque said Thursday's distribution is the fifth and final batch, with each barangay receiving 10 radios to upgrade its communications system.
According to Philippines News Agency, Vice Governor Clive Qui±o stated that the new radio units would improve disaster response and peace and order monitoring at the barangay level. This initiative aims to enhance the communication capabilities across the province, ensuring better coordination, especially in times of emergency.
Louie John 'LG' Naiz, barangay chairperson of Mailag, Valencia City, expressed that the handheld radios are a significant aid for barangays that face challenges in purchasing a set due to limited budget allocations. The provision of these communication tools is expected to bridge gaps in local governance and service delivery.
The distribution of these radios marks a significant step towards strengthening local infrastructure and empowering barangays with necessary communication tools, which is crucial for effective governance and community safety.
