Manila: The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has announced that the fuel surcharge will remain at Level 4 throughout March. This decision aligns with the board's ongoing efforts to address the fluctuating costs of fuel impacting the airline industry.
According to Philippines News Agency, the fuel surcharge, which serves as an additional fee airlines can collect on top of the base fare, has been set at Level 4 since August 2025. This level allows for a surcharge ranging from PHP117 to PHP342 for domestic flights and from PHP385.70 to PHP2,867.82 for international flights, with the variation depending on the flight distance.
CAB Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla emphasized in a Friday advisory that airlines intending to impose or collect the fuel surcharge must submit their applications by the start of the effectivity period. The advisory also highlighted that the applicable conversion rate stands at USD1 to PHP59.11.
The surcharge rate is calculated based on a monthly average of jet fuel Mean of Platts Singapore prices, converted to their peso-per-liter equivalent, ensuring that the rates reflect current market conditions.
