Calabarzon: The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) IV-A in Calabarzon has approved a salary increase for domestic workers in the region, ranging from PHP750 to PHP1,750.

According to Philippines News Agency, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) announced via social media that the board approved the measure on February 10. This decision raises the new minimum wage rate for domestic workers to PHP6,750. Under Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-05, domestic workers in cities and first-class municipalities will receive a PHP750 salary increase, while those in other municipalities will benefit from a PHP1,750 increase.

The wage hike applies to all domestic workers, whether they are in live-in or live-out arrangements. This includes general househelp, yaya, cooks, gardeners, laundry persons, and any individuals who regularly perform work on an occasional or sporadic basis but not on an occupational basis. However, the increase does not cover service providers, family drivers, and other individuals who perform work occasionally and not on an occupational basis.

The newly approved wage order is set to take effect on March 7.
