Capiz: Residents of Capiz have withdrawn support for an organization linked with a communist terrorist group (CTG) and pledged allegiance to the government, marking the launch of Project CAPeace-Tawhayan in the province. A report from the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas (PRO-6), released Thursday, said the individuals were previously associated with Gabriela but decided to withdraw their support after realizing they were misled.

According to Philippines News Agency, the former supporters received rice assistance and were endorsed for livelihood programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Labor and Employment to help them reintegrate into mainstream society. On Thursday, they underwent documentation and executed judicial affidavits before Prosecutor II Flosemer Chris Gonzales of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

PRO-6 Acting Director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tua±o welcomed the development, saying the voluntary withdrawal reflects the participants' desire to support peace and order initiatives in their communities. "PRO-6 will continue to cooperate with government agencies to ensure they are provided with support and opportunities as they integrate into society," Tua±o said.

Project CAPeace-Tawhayan, an initiative of the Capiz Police Provincial Office, aims to strengthen collaboration among government agencies in promoting lasting peace, security, and sustainable development. "The program underscores that lasting peace is achieved through unity, cooperation, and the shared responsibility of every stakeholder in building resilient and peaceful communities," the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company said in its report.

The launch also unveiled the Surrender of Loose Firearms Assistance Desk, which will facilitate the safe and orderly turnover of loose firearms at police stations and units across Capiz.
