CAR Farmers Urged to Report Weather-Related Damage for Government Assistance

Baguio city: The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR) has encouraged farmers to report any weather-related damage to their crops, farms, and equipment in order for the government to evaluate the necessary assistance. "Please let us know of your situation so that we can immediately make the appropriate action, especially in assisting to the recovery effort if you incurred damage," stated Jennilyn Dawayan, DA-CAR executive director, in a message to the Philippine News Agency.

According to Philippines News Agency, farmers can file their reports through barangay agriculture extension workers or their respective Municipal Agriculture Offices. They are asked to provide specific details including the location of the farm, type of crop planted, land area, crop stage, affected area, livestock details, machinery damage, extent of damage, and estimated cost. It is essential for the information to be supported by photos with a watermark bearing the name of the submitter for identification.

Farmers are also required to state their Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) number to qualify for assistance. The DA has emphasized the importance of RSBSA registration as a primary prerequisite for government aid. The RSBSA serves as a tool for the government to access real-time data, aiding in decision-making for the agriculture sector.

Dawayan has urged the prompt submission of damage reports to enable the DA to swiftly make necessary recommendations for aid.
