Butuan city: Ten different schools in the Caraga Region have sent their respective teams to a robotics challenge organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT-13), which ran from Monday to Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the event, named TECHQUEST: Robotics Challenge for Academia, is the inaugural robotics competition hosted by DICT in the region. The competition saw participation from 30 junior and senior high school students, grouped into 10 teams.
Albert Gabriel, the focal person of the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau of DICT-13, noted in an interview that each team consisted of two students and one coach. Gabriel highlighted that the challenge aims to introduce innovations and technology to students from various schools in the region.
Gabriel further explained that the event is designed to cultivate the skills of students for their future careers, particularly in science and technology fields. The two-day event emphasized participants' creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork in designing, building, and programming robots.
The DICT-13 expressed optimism about future robotics challenges as a means to further develop the skills of young learners in the region.
