Caraga Police Officer Injured in Cotabato City Polling Center Shooting

Cotabato city: A Caraga police officer was injured early Monday when unidentified attackers opened fire inside a school serving as a polling center for the 2026 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) confirmed that Patrolman Justeen Reo Ga, assigned to the Dinagat Islands Police Provincial Office, was among four individuals injured in the attack near Central Pilot Elementary School along Sinsuat Avenue in Barangay Poblacion. The assailants reportedly fired successive rounds inside the school premises before fleeing the scene.

Police units quickly launched intensified dragnet and interdiction operations to locate the attackers. Ga, one of 887 Caraga police personnel deployed to secure the BARMM elections, received immediate medical treatment and is now in stable condition.

PRO-13 emphasized its commitment to protecting the public, maintaining peace and order, and ensuring that the parliamentary polls are conducted safely and orderly so voters can freely exercise their rights.
