Caraga Police Seize P1.1-M Shabu in Weeklong Operations

Caraga: A weeklong series of anti-drug operations in the Caraga Region resulted in the seizure of over PHP1 million worth of suspected shabu and the arrest of 15 individuals, police reported Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-13) conducted 14 operations across different provinces in the region. These efforts led to the confiscation of 173.21 grams of shabu and 0.45 grams of marijuana. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of PHP1,177,882.

The largest drug haul took place on April 7 in Barangay Cubi-Cubi, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. A buy-bust operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals identified as alias Ronaldo, 54, a businessman, and alias Amor, 48. Authorities recovered 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP1,020,000 from the suspects.

Ronaldo and his companion were considered high-value targets and had been under surveillance for several days prior to their arrest, according to information chief Maj. Jennifer Omiter.

In a separate operation on the same day, the Butuan City Police Office apprehended two suspects and confiscated three grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP20,400.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, have been filed against all arrested suspects.
