Catanduanes: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD)-Region 5 (Bicol) announced on Friday that it has delivered PHP2 million worth of construction materials to aid the province of Catanduanes, which was struck by Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-wong) over the weekend.

According to Philippines News Agency, DHSUD-5 Director Maria Amoroso stated that the assistance aims to provide housing materials and essential supplies to households affected by the disaster. Amoroso emphasized the urgency of support, noting that the Bicol region faced significant impacts from the typhoon.

"For the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, we have initiated assistance for residents in Catanduanes who have experienced partial or total damage to their homes. We all know that the Bicol region was severely impacted by Super Typhoon Uwan," Amoroso explained.

She further mentioned that cash assistance is also being prepared for those with damaged homes. The Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP) will offer PHP10,000 for partially damaged houses and PHP30,000 for totally damaged ones. Currently, an assessment team is evaluating the damage reports. "We have six validators on the ground who are consolidating the damage assessments," Amoroso added.
