CDO Constructs P7-M Wastewater Facility for Public Market

Cagayan de oro: The construction of a PHP7 million wastewater treatment facility has begun in one of the public markets in this city, with other similar projects expected to commence this year. In a livestreamed program on Friday, spokesperson Jann Guillmore Actub of the office of Mayor Rolando Uy said the wastewater treatment facility under construction at Carmen Public Market is only one of many facilities slated for completion under the current administration. "It will have a lasting impact for generations to come," he said.

According to Philippines News Agency, Actub said the construction is supported by the Environmental Management Bureau for Northern Mindanao. Beyond the Carmen Public Market, there are 11 other wastewater treatment facility projects totaling PHP632.3 million, based on the local government's annual procurement plan for the fiscal year 2025. The projects are planned mostly for public markets.

Last month, the local government inaugurated a sewerage treatment plant at the City Engineered Sanitary Landfill Leachate Treatment Facility in Barangay Pagalungan.
