Cagayan de oro: The city government inaugurated the PHP50.9 million "smart" school building annex at Carmen National High School on Friday. Mayor Rolando Uy led the turnover of the three-story building with nine classrooms, marking a significant step towards modernizing educational facilities in the city.

According to Philippines News Agency, the smart school building was constructed using durable, high-quality materials to ensure safety and long-term reliability. The ground floor features a storage room and a data cabinet that houses the school's closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring system, enhancing the security infrastructure.

To facilitate digital learning, each classroom is equipped with computers, projectors, and Smart TVs. The facility's design includes fire protection systems, alarms, smoke detectors, a generator, and a water pump with tanks to ensure a continuous water supply, demonstrating a commitment to creating a conducive learning environment.

The project was funded by the city through the Local School Board. Other smart school buildings are planned to be completed by 2027, with an additional budget exceeding PHP100 million for construction costs, further emphasizing the city's dedication to advancing its educational infrastructure.
